President Elpidio Quirino is remembered as one of the nation’s builders during a difficult yet hopeful period in Philippine history. Born in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, he grew up in a humble household where education and perseverance shaped his character. His early life taught him the value of hard work, especially after losing his father at a young age. Despite challenges, Quirino studied diligently and eventually became a lawyer, proving that determination can open doors even for those with limited means. Before becoming president, Quirino had a long and meaningful political career.  He served as a congressman, senator, and even took part in the 1935 Constitutional Convention. One of his most notable roles was being Vice President under President Manuel Roxas. When Roxas passed away, Quirino took the responsibility of leading the country during a time when the Philippines was still recovering from the devastation of World War II. Image
The 2025 National Children’s Month celebration, with the theme “OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!”, brings attention to the urgent need to protect children from online abuse and exploitation. In a time when technology is part of everyday life, the risks that children face on the internet have become more serious. This theme reminds us that celebrating children also means creating safer spaces for them, both online and offline. The government has taken important steps by strengthening laws and programs against OSAEC and CSAEM. There are ongoing efforts such as improved cyber monitoring, closer coordination with international partners, and the creation of child protection units. These actions show that the government recognizes how crucial it is to build strong systems that safeguard children in a digital world where abuse can happen quietly and quickly. Still, even with good laws in place, real change depends on proper implementation and strong commu...

Blog #5 Reflection for the 2nd Quarter

Image
Quarter 2 Reflection in ICT This quarter has been full of learning and discoveries that helped me improve my understanding of technology and creativity. I learned how to use different digital tools more efficiently, such as creating photo essays, editing layouts, and writing reflections online. I also discovered how technology can be used not just for schoolwork, but also for expressing ideas and showcasing our community’s culture. These activities made me appreciate ICT more because it connects learning with real-life experiences. One of the challenges I encountered this quarter was managing my time between projects and other subjects. There were moments when tasks piled up, and I found it difficult to balance deadlines. Another challenge was understanding some technical parts of ICT, especially when editing or formatting digital content. At first, it felt overwhelming to keep up with everything, but I knew these struggles were part of the learning process. To overcome these chal...

Blog#2 Hope and Resilience

Image
Hope and Resilience in the Face of Climate Change Climate change is one of the biggest challenges we face today, and the Philippines is among the most affected. Hotter days, stronger typhoons, floods, and droughts continue to disrupt the lives of many Filipinos. Much of this is made worse by human activities like deforestation, pollution, and the excessive use of fossil fuels that harm our environment. The effects are felt everywhere. Stronger storms destroy homes and livelihoods, while floods displace families for weeks. Rising sea levels threaten coastal communities, and long droughts make it harder for farmers to grow crops. These struggles affect not only survival but also the stability and hopes of many families. Despite these challenges, Filipinos are known for their resiliency. After every disaster, families rebuild, neighbors help one another, and communities rise again. This spirit of bayanihan keeps people strong even when life gets difficult. But resiliency alone is not enou...
